Launch of Mercury-Atlas 1 from Cape Canaveral, Florida on pad 14. This was an unmanned spacecraft with no launch escape system. It suffered from a structural failure 58 seconds after launch and it landed in the ocean with great impact.

Overall good condition with signs commensurate with age, noting minor scratches and indentations on the recto. There is one substantial crease resulting from a fold running the length of the photograph. The verso is in good condition with erratum on the top left and slight ink transference from the caption towards the top of the verso.
