Lot Essay

A 70mm frame of the busy end effector of the remote manipulator system (RMS) aboard the Earth-orbiting Discovery. The hand-like device was at the command of Astronaut Anna L. Fisher during much of the eight-day mission. Dr. Fisher worked long hours Nov. 12 & 14 to manipulator the arm to aid Astronauts Dale A. Gardner and Joseph P. Allen IV as they captured two stranded communications satellites. During flight, the wrist television camera, center frame, recorded by a handheld 70mm Hasselblad camera aimed through one of the flight deck windows.
