Lot Essay

Project Mercury spacecraft, manufactured for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration by McDonnell Aircraft Corporation, is hoisted into position for NASA’s first flight test utilising a Mercury-Redstone boost vehicle. This test, conducted December 19, 1960, at Cape Canaveral, Florida, was termed “an unqualified success” by the Space Agency. Project Mercury is the initial manned space flight program of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
