Lot Essay
Lady Thatcher was photographed wearing this outfit, including hat, in 2005 for the unveiling of The Women of World War II monument, Whitehall, London, by HM Queen Elizabeth II. The coat in this lot is one of two of very closely similar design ordered by Lady Thatcher. Lady Thatcher wore the other coat, which had slightly lighter colour trim, during her final visit to number 10 Downing Street in 2010, when she was photographed on the steps with the Prime Minister David Cameron.
