Lot Essay

Mrs. Thatcher is much famed for her preference for the 'pussy-bow' blouse, and these three examples seem to have been amongst her favourites in the mid-1980s when she was at the peak of her powers and popularity. She was much photographed on important political occasions wearing both the green and navy-blue patterned examples. Mrs. Thatcher can be seen wearing the green-patterned example during the remarkable, uncensored, interview she gave on Russian State television, during her 1987 visit to Moscow.
