Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The table is in good overall condition, it has been restored and repolished at some time and is a little faded. The well figured timber retains a reasonable colour and there is some marking and wear throughout as expected from use, most notably to the central panel of the top, which naturally receives most use. There are some minor losses to the edgemoudings to the top of the legs and some remaining mouldings are a little loose. The handles are most likely original. There is one small paler patch to the top, caused by a spill but this is not obtrusive. The joints have probably been reglued to some extent to the base and there is evidence on close inspection that the legs may formerly have been reinforced with brackets, which have been removed.
The lamps are a little tarnished and worn, one with detached baize undercloth. The wiring has been disconnected and these lamps should be rewired by a qualified electrician only, if intended for use with electricity. The shades are a little marked and worn and the plastic coating to the metal frames is chipping away a little and one is slightly bent.
Overall marks, scratches, knocks and wear to all elements of this lot consistent with age and use. Generally good structural and decorative order overall.
