Thatcher’s engagements on the day she resigned as Prime Minister, including a mooted dinner at the Savoy Grill with Denis and other friends: the day begins with a hair appointment, readying her for an audience with the Queen to confirm her resignation, which is then announced in the Commons. She is then to leave for Dulwich, where time is set aside for unpacking before evening drinks with Sir Robin Butler and the Cabinet Office Secretariat, and the aforementioned dinner.
