Lot Essay
The desk blotter, almost certainly government issue, is likely to have been used by Margret Thatcher during her years at the Palace of Westminster. Subsequently, it was used daily in her study at her London home on Chester Square, where it was kept on her desk in her private study.

Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The blotter worn and marked from daily use, one internal pocket split, the fixed blotting paper marked and with scribbles and inscriptions as mentioned in the catalogue text. The note paper a little discoloured and a little creased. The remaining elements of the lot in generally good overall condition with minimal wear from use. The pen untested but in apparently good condition with some evidence of use.
