Lot Essay

The first two coats and the boots were worn by Margaret Thatcher as Prime Minister on her 1987 trip to Russia to meet Gorbatchev face to face. Family history has it that Mrs Thatcher's dresser, known as 'Crawfie' was instrumental in persuading her employer that she needed warm clothing for the Russian visit. This is said to be the first time she wore Aquascutum.
