Bernie Taupin was born in Lincolnshire, England. Attributing his life-long passion for art to his mother, Daphne, he began displaying and selling his original artwork in 2004. Drawing from his encyclopedic knowledge of American roots music and American history, Taupin honors and weaves American icons into much of his work. Harmonizing with found objects and repurposed materials, his artwork often includes cherished cultural foundations that are visually reinterpreted to transcend our hearts and ears, resulting in the stimulation of a third sense for the viewer via their eyes. Taupin’s incorporation and inclusion of the American flag is a pervasive and passionate expression within much of his visual compositions.
Canvassing North America over the last 10 years, Taupin's artwork has been exhibited at Art Miami, Art Southampton, the LA Art Fair, and in galleries in Denver, Toronto, Los Angeles, New York City, Houston, Dallas, Fort Lauderdale and Aspen among others.
A multi-faceted creator, in addition to his visual artwork, Taupin is best known for his songwriting career over the last 50 years. Taking the stage with his long time songwriting partner, Elton John, the legendary duo were awarded the Oscar for Best Original Song, “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again,” at this year’s 2020 Academy Awards.
