The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. There is some minor rubbing to the four corners. There is a faint intermittent horizontal line to the canvas, which is attributable to the artist’s preparation of the canvas. There are some fibrous accretions and very faint media splashes in places, both presumably in keeping with the artist’s working method. When examined under ultraviolet light, there is no indication of inpainting. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work is in generally very good condition.
