Boyd, the second baronet, inherited his father's Danson Hall estate in Kent, in 1800. He sold his father's extensive collection of paintings and drawings in 1805.

Examined in the frame. In good condition. The colors are rich and bright. There are minimal abrasions. Some creases in the paper near the right margin at top -it is possible that the paper has been laid down on canvas. The upper right corner presents a flattened crease. A small filled loss on the pink cloud behind the sitter's left shoulder.
