The subject of Tobias cutting up the fish at the instruction of an angel in order to cure his father’s blindness is treated in other drawings by pupils of Rembrandt, including one by Philips Koninck in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, inv. RP-T-1930-19 (W. Sumowski, Drawings of the Rembrandt School, VI, New York, 1982, no. 1523a, ill.).
