These relined canvases are held under tension and remain stable. In raking light, there is evidence of scattered restoration, particularly in the backgrounds surrounding the figures. Ultraviolet examination reveals an uneven varnish, with infilling in the craquelure of the canvases, and scattered restoration in the backgrounds, such as the floor of the old man and maid ironing in an interior. The figures appear well preserved, with the details of their features highly appreciable. The paintings appear even and present well overall.
