The canvas has been subject to relining; it is held under tension and remains stable. The picture presents well in natural light, with the crispness of composition well preserved. In raking light there is some suggestion of some minor scattered retouching, notably to the darker passages. Examination under UV light confirms the aforementioned retouchings. It reveals further retouching to the pale passages, notably the background at upper-left, the flesh tones of the central figure and the costume of the central figure. The paint remains stable.
