The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

With consideration to the fragility of the glass panel and adhesive quality of materials, the panel is in outstanding condition. The glass panel is backed with a wooden panel lined with canvas and stretched on the reverse. In the painted surface there is some minor flaking and scratches. There is some tarnish particularly to the grill in the background. There is frame abrasion at the extreme edges and in the upper half of the left and right extreme edges there is abrasion to the side of the glass. There is tape residue on the extreme edges on the front of the glass. There are large spots of well matched repairs to the gilding throughout the image, visible from the reverse but not the front.
