The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This painting is executed on a panel, which appears to to be comprised of a single board. A horizontal crack running the horizontal length of the panel along the grain is visible in the upper part of the panel. The edges of the reverse has been very slightly beveled. The paint layer is stable under a clean varnish. An uneven craquelure is visible across the surface, and has been retouched in some areas to minimize its appearance. In dark areas of the background, shadows, and the bottles, retouching is visible, and minimizes the horizontal grain. Inspection under ultraviolet light light revealed restorations over the lower right portion of the table including the pear. Additional repairs to thinned areas of the basket and scattered throughout the composition were also visible. The painting presents well and is offered in a simple giltwood frame.
