The panel is made up from two oak boards joined horizontally, bevelled to the edges. The panel is stable. In natural light restoration along the panel join can be seen. There is further retouching visible in the sky and the sea, especially along the horizontal panel grain. There is a slightly yellowed, uneven varnish. Examination under UV light confirms all the aforementioned retouchings and restoration. The lively modeling of the composition remains appreciable. The paint is structurally stable.
