The Virgin and Child

The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

With minor scratches, chips and abrasions consistent with age and handling.
The upper surfaces slightly weathered particularly to the face of the infant Christ.
Minor traces of polychromy and gesso.
Larger chips to top edge of the shield at the base and the drapery on the Virgin’s proper right side. Two toes on Christ’s proper right foot now lacking.
There are two small areas of infill to the top of the Virgin's head toward the back.
Christ's proper left elbow restored as well as a tiny area of the Virgin's upper lip; the tip of the Virgin's nose has possibly also been restored.
Christ’s proper left foot has been replaced with some traces of glue on the dress beneath.
Overall very good condition.
