Elizabeth, Lady Eastlake (1809-1893), London, on whose behalf acquired at Christie's by Sir William Boxall (1800-1879), second Director of the National Gallery, London, as 'after Vernet' (according to a label on the reverse of the first).
Sir Thomas Henry Farrer (1819-1899), Abinger Hall, Dorking, circa 1860, and by descent to the present owner.
