The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This painting is executed on a panel, comprised of a single board with a horizontal grain. There is evidence of old insect burrows, which are now dormant. The paint layer is stable with a very fine craquelure, under a varnish which has become cloudy in some areas. There is some frame abrasion with associated losses and repairs along the extreme edges. These retouches are usually hidden by the rabbet of the frame. Further retouches to small losses along the craquelure are also visible in natural light. Inspection under ultraviolet light was hindered by an opaque varnish. This painting should be displayed in its present state and is offered in a stained wood frame.
