The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This relined canvas retains a good tension on its stretcher. Examination in natural light reveals impasto that is well preserved and suggests the painting is in very good state. There is no evidence of any significant craquelure.
Ultra-violet fluorescence examination reveals some flecks of retouching all over, including to a few minor damages in the sky.
