The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The painting is executed on a panel made up of three boards joined horizontally. The panel is bevelled to the upper, left- and right-hand edges. The panel remains stable. In natural light the upper panel join can be seen, with some associated horizontal cracking and restoration. There appears to have been some minor retouching to the flesh tones of the neck. Examination under UV light confirms these observations. There is further retouching to the sitter's decolletage, and to the egdes of the panel, the latter concordent with frame abrasions. The painting is otherwise in a good state of preservation, with the painterly approach to composition fully appreciable.
