The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

There are some losses to the paint surface in this work on copper panel: in the upper right and lower left corners; in the chequered floor, lower centre (with associated discoloured retouching); and in the blue drapery of the candle-bearing figure on the left side of the composition. 
Examination under ultra violet light confirms the aforementioned restoration and reveals a few minor spots of strengthening near the edges of the panel. A thorough reading is impaired by the old varnish layers.
There are some losses to the gilt composition frame.
