The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Both canvases have been supported on the reverse by a glue lining and are stable on their stretchers. Each exhibit a fine and even craquelure across the surface. Some slight cusping is visible along the lower edges of both canvases.
In the landscape with the Tour de Nesles, a small repair is visible in natural light in the sky at left, further restorations addressing frame abrasions at the extreme edges and widening areas of the craquelure are also visible. Under ultraviolet light additional minor scattered repairs are visible.
In the landscape with the Louvre an area of restoration is visible in the sky at upper left in natural light. Additional restorations at the extreme edges address frame abrasions that are hidden by the rabbet of the frame. Under ultraviolet light a few additional restorations can be seen scattered throughout the composition.
Both works present well, the pair is offered in matching carved and giltwood frames.
