The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This painting is executed on a uniformly thin sheet of copper that is nearly flat. The paint layer is stable, under a clear varnish, which has been unevenly applied. There is an extremely fine craquelure across the surface. In raking light scattered repairs to losses in the darkest area of the painting are visible. These restorations are also visible under ultraviolet light. Further inspection under UV was hindered by the opaque varnish. The painting is in fine state and should be displayed as is. The work is offered in a dark wood Dutch-style frame.
