The canvas has been subject to relining; it is held under tension and remains stable. Examination under UV light reveals some minor scattered retouching to the lower left edge. It appears that there has been retouching to the flesh tones. There is a cloudy varnish that preculdes further examination. It is very likely that there is further restoration that would be revealed by professional examination. This painting has an even surface gloss. In a raking light, it is apparent that the impasto has been diminished by the relining process. The modeling of the face and the painterly approach to the costume remain fully appreciable.
