The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This painting is executed on canvas and is supported on the reverse by a resent glue lining. The work is firmly adhered to its stretcher and slight cusping is visible at the extreme edges. There is a fine craquelure across the surface. In natural light restorations in the flesh tones, hair and dark background are visible. Most notable of these restorations are to the area below the Saint's proper left eye and over his proper left shoulder. These restorations fluoresce under ultraviolet light. Further inspection with an ultraviolet lamp is hindered by an opaque varnish. The painting present well and is offered in a carved and giltwood frame.
