These relined canvases are held under tension and remain stable. In both works, a wider pattern of craquelure is visible in the lower quadrants, with scattered restoration visible in the skies. Ultraviolet examination reveals scattered restoration throughout both, particularly in the skies and darker passages of the lower foregrounds .
