Allegory of Painting: This uncradled oak panel has bowed. There is a partially visible horizon line of discoloured retouching associated to a split through the middle of the panel. Examination under ultraviolet light confirms the aforementioned retouching and scattered spots of minor retouchings elsewhere. Allegory of Music: The single-piece oak panel is uncradled. An area of surface abrasion is visible in the head of the standing putto. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals strengthening to the cartouche near the edges of the panel with isolated spots of retouchings to the figures.
