This relined canvas remains stable on its stretcher. The paint surface appears to have worn over time, with historic thinning of the paint layer affecting some of the luminosity of the composition. Ultraviolet examination reveals a thick obscuring layer of varnish, with historic restoration to tears in the upper right corner, infilling craquelure, overpaint in the sky and scattered restoration throughout. The painting is highly decorative and presents well overall.
