The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas has been recently relined and retains a good tension on its stretcher. The picture presents well overall.
Examination under ultraviolet light reveals scattered strengthening to the sky and water, some of which appears to be associated to historic damages. The most significant passages of strengthening are near the edges of the composition, particularly on the right and upper edges.
