The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The panel has been thinned and is cradled to the reverse. It is providing stable support for the picture, which presents well overall. There is a glossy varnish, and some scuffing along the top edge, due to frame wear. The drawing is well preserved overall, although the cartouche lacks definition and there is a slight thinness in some areas where the panel grain is more in evidence. The examination under UV is largely impeded by a masking varnish, although some retouching is still evident in the background and to the fruit, and there would appear to be more strengthening to the background and the cartouche that does not fluoresce.
