The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The copper is stable and provides sound support for the picture. There is an even gloss varnish, and the picture presents well. There is a small loss to the very lower edge of the copper as visible in the catalogue illustration. The examination under UV light shows some retouching around the edges, on the right collar as we look and a few tiny spots on the face. Overall the picture is in good state, with the colours and fine detail well preserved.
