Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Wear to the high points of the gilding, especially to the stomach, the perizonium and the legs. Some losses to the enamel, epsecially to the ends of the cross but also to the perizonium and in two small points to the left of the feet and beneath the proper right arm. There are 18 holes which would originally have secured the cross to a wood support, now lacking; the cross is now attached to the later mount by one nail through one of these holes. Wear to the velvet of the later mount.
