We are grateful to Professor Keith Sciberras for confirming the attribution on the basis of images. Professor Sciberras considers it to be a work from the artist's time in Malta (1661-1699) and will publish it in the fortcoming revision of his 2020 catalogue: Mattia Preti: Life and Works.
