The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

With minor chips, scratches, abrasions and shrinkage cracks consistent with age and handling.
Some evidence of old woodworm throughout; this is no longer active.
Traces of gesso and green polychromy.
There must have been an additional element, probably drapery, to the Virgin’s proper left hand side which is now lacking. The tips of three old metal pins remain at knee height - these are not visible when viewing the sculpture straight on.
There is also a slightly larger metal pin by the Virgin’s proper left foot.
On a later red velvet plinth.
Overall good condition.
