The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

This relined canvas retains a strong tension on its stretcher. The relining treament has resulted in a slight loss to the impasto but the bold colouring and wealth of detail are still highly appreciable. There is an even craquelure to the painting which has been extensively infilled. Examination under ultra violet fluorescence some individual passages of retouching, including to a few minor damages to the trees in the upper section of the painting. There are some paint losses to the lower left corner and there is some unstable paint in this corner area, which would benefit from the attention of a restorer. The slightly dry surface might benefit from revarnishing. Overall in good and stable condition.
