The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

This relined canvas is held under tension and remains stable. There is an old yellowing varnish across the paint surface. A restored irregular vertical tear is visible in the upper right corner and across to the lower right. Ultraviolet examination reveals a thick obscuring layer of varnish that prevents proper examination, however confirms the above, with some more recent retouching to the red cloak of the figure in the lower right corner.
