This unlined canvas is held adequately under tension on its stretcher and remains stable. Elements of the raised impasto remain well preserved, particularly in the flecks of white in the saint's habit and the clouds in the upper left, with the artist's expressive brushwork remaining highly appreciable. Ultraviolet examination reveals a thick layer of obscuring varnish that hinders proper examination, however more recent, isolated flecks of restoration are visible across the paint surface, with restored paint losses visible particularly along the edges of the canvas, likely associated with frame wear.
