The canvas has been subject to relining; this is held under tension and remains stable. The painting presents well in natural light, with the crispness of execution well preserved. The paint is stable. Examination under UV light reveals infilling to the craquelure, most notably to the skin tones; and scattered retouching to some losses/damages of differing sizes, most notably to the landscape, to the lower ground, and along the right edge. There is an old varnish that has been selectively cleaned.
