This painting is executed on a panel comprised of three horizontally oriented boards. The panel has been supported on the reverse with a cradle of metal and wooden batons. Each of the boards have warped slightly with age. The paint layer is stable under a clear varnish. In raking light repairs along the panel join and pentimenti around the figural groups are visible. A small loss in the column at right has also been repaired. Inspection under ultraviolet light revealed a campaign of retouching concentrated in the vaulted ceiling in the upper 1/3 of the picture. Further repairs and some strokes of strengthening are scattered throughout the composition. The painting presents well and is offered in a carved and gilt wood frame.
