The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas has been recently relined and retains a good tension on its modern stretcher. The paint surface is stable and the picture presents well overall. Old stretcher bar marks are visible. Some old discoloured retouching to the darker tones of the landscape are visible to the naked eye.
Examination under ultraviolet light light reveals infilling to the craquelure in the flesh tones and spots of retouching throughout, chiefly in the darker tones. The fine modelling and textured brushworks of the artist remain highly appreciable and the picture presents well in its frame.
