The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This painting is executed on a panel comprised of a single board which exhibits beveling along all four edges of the reverse. The paint surface is stable, although abraded, and the varnish has yellowed and clouded with age. A craquelure is visible mostly in the darkest areas of shadow. In raking light areas of abrasion to the landscape at right are visible and have not been restored, as seen in the catalogue image. Inspection under ultraviolet light is hindered by an opaque varnish. This panel is offered unframed.
