The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The panting presents well in natural light, with the detail of the costume and still life elements well preserved. In a raking light some scattered retouching can be seen, notably in the flesh tones, pale areas of the costume and in the browns at lower left. There is a slightly yellowed varnish that has been partially cleaned in the lower right corner. The canvas has been subject to relining; it is held under tension and remains stable. Examination under UV light confirms the aforementioned retouching. The cloudy varnish precludes a more in depth examination. The paint remains stable.
