The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The painting is relined and stable on its support. The paint layer is stable and is under a clear varnish that has slightly yellowed with age. There is an overal uneven network of craquelure. Under natural light, scattered retouching is visible, including to the top of the Madonna's veil and to the upper right portion of the halo. A line of retouching to address stretcher bar marks at the lower right is evident. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals several campaigns of restoration and further overall retouching. The painting should be hung in its present state. The worl is offered in a simple giltwood frame.
