The narrative detail and integrity of the artist’s technique remains fully appreciable in the figures and architecture. In natural light there is evidence of retouching to the sky. There is an historic varnish that has yellowed in areas. Examination under UV light confirms the aforementioned retouchings in the sky. There is evidence of some further scattered retouching to the snow and to the white horse at lower left. The clouded varnish precludes further examination. The paint is stable.
