This relined canvas retains a good tension on its stretcher. The painting remains in a good condition and the artist’s textured brushstrokes are still highly appreciable. The paint surface remains stable with some very minor dents. Close examination confirms some minor isolated strokes of discoloured retouching to the sky. Ultra-violet fluorescence examination confirms the presence of an even layer of varnish with evidence of repainting to the bottom edge of the sea and two levels of scattered strokes of retouchings, predominantly to the sky.
