The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The uncradled panel is composed of a single board with vertical wood grain measuring approximately 3/8 inch thick and exhibits beveling along all four sides of the reverse. The varnish is clear and only minimally yellowed and the paint stable on the support. Ultraviolet light reveals fines strokes to close the wood grain, particularly in the sky, as well as restoration to several small areas of loss measuring approximately ½ inch in the cloud at upper left and landscape at lower right. A further line of retouching to address earlier frame abrasion fluoresces along the edge at upper center. The painting appears to be in a fine state of preservation and should be displayed in its current state.
