The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The first:
The canvas is supported with a glue lining. The paint is stable on the support. Under natural light, the varnish is clear and a fine craquelure is visible in places. There is slight scuffing at the extreme edges due to frame contact, as well as additional scuffing at the lower right edge, to the right of the tree trunk. Ultraviolet light examination reveals a few retouches along the upper edge and by the figures in the foreground but overall the painting seems to be in good condition.

The second:
The canvas is supported with a glue lining. The paint is stable on the support. Under natural light, the varnish is clear and a craquelure is visible in places, particularly the lower left corner. A few vertical scratches are visible over the trees at upper center. A 1/4 inch loss is visible at the extreme upper edge, near the center (likely due to frame contact). Ultraviolet light reveals some scattered retouches along the upper edge and over three, approximately 2 inch lines around the fountain. Two additional 1 inch areas fluoresce in the lower corners. Overall, the painting seems to be in good condition.
Both works could be displayed as is.
